Today, many companies in the public market trade at a discount to fundamental value since they underperform their potential, have complex corporate structures that are not appreciated by investors or are “out of favour” with the market for idiosyncratic or cyclical reasons. This negatively impacts all shareholders but very few investors are ready to do something about it.
